Making a living in the field of construction as a contractor could either be profitable or not. You could either have some big time success immediately, catapulting you suddenly to the top of the industry, or you could toil for years without having any significant project. A really special project that could lead to a fantastic breakthrough is what every contractor like me is hoping for. I should say that I know all about such hopes and dreams because I am a contractor as well. It is a great industry to be in, although it could also be pretty tough at times.

Being in the industry of construction does present unique challenges. My contracting company is involved in renovation and also, although a little less, on new construction. In tougher economic times, the better opportunity is definitely in renovating, as new houses are not built as much. This is the case just this past couple of months, when I fortunately had the chance to renovate several houses, thus giving my company some much needed income.

A challenge that I encounter almost regularly is that of defective devices. There are times when even the known brands break down and when you are right in the middle of a project, it could just be so frustrating. This week, we were doing the renovation on two houses at about the same time. It was hectic, to be sure, but it was an earning opportunity, and things like that don’t come around too often.

During our renovation, the drills being used somehow broke down all at the same time. I knew then that I needed to change the brand and model of the drills that we were using. Someone recommended that we start using Dewalt DC730KA and then we did start using it. I immediately saw the difference and realized we made the right decision in using it.
